YEW - WILD LEATHER SHEEPSKIN

YEW  is an Icelandic X Shetland hide, naturally tanned, using bark tan methods, organically reared and hand made leather sheepskin.
 
GRADE 2: The colours of the wool are a beautiful rich black with a wisp of brown and wool that's dense and full of tight soft curls! The leather isn't perfect with this one, it has gained a few battle scars through the skinning and tanning process but it doesnt affect the look of feel of the wool. There are two patches of missing wool which can only be seen when the wool is pulled back, with a few small skinning holes. ** please see pictures** The price does reflect the second grade hide.
The hide is 120cm x 85cm.
 
This sheepskin would make the perfect fireside rug, within a yurt, tipi or shepherds hut. Also draped over the sofa, or perhaps by the bedside. I also have customers who use these for wild camping as they are so much warmer than synthetic and very light to carry. They have also been used for horse saddle mats and cool motorbike seat covers! GRADE 2 hides are great for heavy traffic or luxury pet beds.

It has been carefully cured, tanned, stretched and oiled by my own hands using traditional, ancient methods and no chemicals or machines. The sheepskin will also have a more tangible, aged and rustic look and feel to it as this is not a commercially produced product. This is a rare and disappearing craft that I hope finds it’s way into your home!
